Constintent Meditation

Why should you be consitently meditating? You are asking this question because you have reached a point in your life where you have decided that you think that this thing called meditation is going to bring you some good. There are many different types of meditation (one can call prayer a form of meditation); within meditation there are many, many different forms of meditation. The important thing is that you find some style that you like and that you can stick with.

Starting a Meditation habit

Consistency is important in any endevour that you pursue, be it sports, fitness, or business. And consistency with meditation is no differnt, I bring up the importance of consistency because there are going to be times where you are not going to want to sit down and meditate. The first time that you meditate you may be just longing for your time to be up and then you can go do something else. But yes, just hang in there. Your first time you meditate will be anything but pleasant. But you will need to develop a consistent routine, and then work from there.

What if I am doing it wrong?

Well that is okay if you are not able to quiet your mind the first time out, you sat down for a specific period of time and tried your hardest to just be with your own thougths for what it is worth. That in of itself is an accomplishment. You made it through, you did it. By sitting down just being with yourself is great, you are way ahead of everybody else, because most people cannot just sit down and be with themselves for any period of time.

I Just can’t be calm?

That is okay too in that you can’t calm down. Who really can calm down? Where can you really just start to let go and relax into yourself and be just by yourself without anything else to contend with? That is why I like meditation.

Simple things for starting a meditation habit right now:

1.) Have a consistent time and place

2.) Have a timer

3.) The goal is that you are going to meditate

4.) Have 0 expectations, and I mean have ZERO Expectations

5.) Its okay to have thoughts when you meditate.

6.) The goal of meditation is to get to a place of silence not to start with a place of silence

7.) You don’t need to sit on the floor.

8.) Have in open mind and see what happens

9.) Allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised about what you start learning about yourself.
